I, of course, woke up at the crack of dawn. When there is waterfront and a beautiful sunrise, my body wakes me up for it. It's like my subconscious wanted to make sure I didn't miss any special moments. Abilena did not disappoint. This was the first thing I saw when I went outside.
From there, as planned, the early birds got our coffees and met down on the dock to enjoy the morning and relax in the peacefulness of the plantation waterfront.
After that, we went to our separate locations, me and the ladies in the Bridal Suite, Hubs and the gentlemen in the Speakeasy. I didn't take a lot of pictures of the getting ready, as I was in the salon chairs being taken care of by the lovely ladies of Magnolia Jane. But, I can share the end result with you, which was nothing short of magnificent. All of my vendors (magicians), and loved ones put this together. They got me done up, and laced up and beautified for the big day.
After this, Tropical Depression Cindy decided to crash the wedding! I'm on the phone with Hubs to let him know that Dawn is heading to him for pictures with the guys when all of a sudden he yells "Oh @#@!$!" and we hear a crash of thunder. I looked out the window and I see this:
We said our vows as a family. Unfortunately, we had been so thrown off by the thunderstorm that I completely forgot to grab the gift I had for little man for the part of the ceremony where we were saying vows to him. We ended up skipping that part, but it worked out because we finished in time to take pictures, narrowly avoiding another wave of weather!
Crystal pronounced us man and wife and Hubs kissed his bride! That was, by far, one of my favorite parts of the ceremony ;)
Following the ceremony we took a bunch of pictures with our Photographer, Dawn. During our time on the dock, one of our friends captured this gem. I can't believe how much we look like a wedding cake topper! It is amazing! That wasn't the look we were going for, but you'll just have to wait for Dawn to publish her work to see what we were really doing!
Following formal pictures, we moved to the Carriage House to start the festivities. This was our first dance. Isn't my husband so handsome?
Next, little man and I had our dance. Oh, but leading up to that... after we were done taking pictures with him, he changed into his swimsuit to join the other kids in the pool, completely forgetting that we still had dances to do. I mean, what 8-year-old thinks about dances? Anyway, we told him to run fast and change back into his white pants and white shirt. So he throws his linen pants on. He then apparently couldn't figure out the buttons on his linen shirt, so he turned his summer camp t-shirt inside out and threw it on. As we started dancing, he hugged me but then stopped hugging me and started grabbing his pants. He had apparently forgotten to do the drawstring and they were falling off. Then his father mouths to me "he's not wearing any drawers" so I grabbed his waistband to hold them up for him and laughed my way through the rest of the dance.
After that, Hubs danced with Mamalady! They started off all sweet and slow and then broke out into the Electric Slide! I knew he had something special planned, but he wouldn't tell me in advance, so I was just as pleasantly surprised as everyone else.
We did speeches. Hubs is much more eloquent than I am. He did a great job! I was so nervous! Also, notice the cool "walls" behind us? When Cindy kicked up again after the ceremony, we put the walls up to keep dry. This place was nothing short of perfect!
We had cake! Mrs. V's did not disappoint. The Tree Cake had three different flavored layers of Chocolate/Cherry, Almond/Cherry, and Almond/Raspberry. The Fire Pit Cake was a cheesecake with a smore's and caramel flavor. I don't even know how to describe it. Man, they were perfect!
I have to say though, it was a lot easier to cut the Tree Cake than the Fire Pit Cake. The Fire Pit had a caramelized cookie border! It was hilarious.

All in all it was a magnificent day filled with lots of love and laughter. We were surrounded by almost all of our loved ones. We couldn't have wished for anything more!
