Dear Hobby Lobby,
Take alllllll my money! Take it alllllllllllllll!
That place is amazing and dangerous. Amazing because they have everything you could ever want for any craft or art related project. Dangerous because I could easily blow an entire paycheck in one shopping trip.
After crushing disappointment at Michael's this past Sunday, Wife suggested Hobby Lobby due to their larger selection. She was spot on, as usual. Their flower section is amazing. I may never buy real flowers again.
My dream was always to have a white lilac bouquet with pops of blue in it. The closest inspiration photo I could find involved lilies and blue anemones. I love it, but Wife informed me that lilies are the traditional funeral flower, so I went back to my lilacs as my first choice.
Now the problem with lilacs, at least while I was living in New York, was that they bloom once, in May, and then die. I made the decision to go with silk flowers after finding this out because the likelihood of me finding white lilacs when I needed them was going to be slim to none. In order to keep them fresh, I would have had to make the bouquets the day before and I just don't think my stress levels could have handled waiting till last minute like that.
So, Wife took me to Hobby Lobby to the magnificent silk flower warehouse. No, really, half the store is silk flowers. It is brilliant! The best part is, you can't even tell that they're fake unless you're right up close. I love that they won't ever wilt. I can keep the bouquet forever. It also made me want to decorate my house with silk flower arrangements. Call me tacky if you want, but they look good!
So, Wife, Husband, and Other Husband and I sat around the kitchen table crafting up a storm last night. Between the four of us, a pair of snips, and a hot glue gun, I think we did a pretty good job on putting the bouquets together. The only thing we forgot was the bullet blooms! I think it looks pretty nice even without them.
