What Happened to the Mail?

Whatever happened to the “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds” creed of the US Postal Service?

What a disappointment.

May 1st came and went, and out of 30 invitations sent, we received a whopping 8 RSVPs.

There are a few tasks relating to the wedding which involve headcount - finalizing catering, and ordering the supplies to make centerpieces - and so, after May 1st, we started reaching out to guests to ask if they were able to come.

A few told us they had mailed their RSVP.  We never received them.  The majority of our guests had not even received their invitation.

Then, one of my bridesmaids took the time to hand-write bridal shower invitations for those who are local to NC.  She lives 5 minutes from me and it took a full week for me to receive a copy of the invitation.

She got almost no responses!  I suspect the majority of the folks she invited never even received the invitation.

It is my opinion that the US Postal Service needs to get their act in gear.  It was significantly disappointing to have the majority of wedding-related mail be lost.  Aside from the expense of printing invitations, and purchasing postage, there is the time spent designing the invitations, and stuffing envelopes... and to then have to follow up with 60+% of the guests because they never received it?

Completely unacceptable.
